This project is a visual investigation into culture-bound syndromes and the breakdown of the ideal female form. Drawing from historical clinical observations, this project examines the body as a living laboratory where cultural expectations manifest as physical side-effects. Hysterical bodies documents the tension between the surveyed female form and the societal lens that observes it—capturing the cyclical relationship between the naming of an illness and its resulting existence.
