Live moss, soil, paper, pencil, marker,
urethane foam, aqua-resin, expoxy resin
17.5″ x 48″, 2013

Second Nature is nature that became an enhanced version of itself, a well-curated experience devoid of challenges and threat. The title is a phrase that encompasses both the concept of authenticity — this is a kind of nature, a piece of it, however small; and the concept of simulation — an admittance that it is removed from Nature with the capital “N.”
In this project, nature is enhanced — trimmed, polished, colorized. It is encased in man-made chemical compounds; it is recreated in ink and paper. Small sculptural objects created out of live moss and urethane foam are placed outside and documented. This documentation is then processed and rendered in hyper color.
