Domesticity investigates the incongruous concept of tropical abundance. Lush patterns of fruit and crisp white lace used in this project are representations of this richness. However, rendered in cheap plastic of everyday domestic materials, the pieces ofthe series shine light on the shallowness of this dream. These bright images of abundance are meant to cover shabby surfaces in humble kitchens, serving as a small window into this fantasy. Just like the concept of tropical abundance, the richness of the patterns on these tablecloths is superficial. As the surface of the materials are crumbled and destroyed in these sculptural pieces, the ordered patterns of the still lifes break also.
